  1. Request An Appraiser With Energy Efficiency Experience And Provide The Additional Appraisal Addendum For Green Features

If the buyer of your home is obtaining a mortgage there will need to be an appraisal completed. The difference between an appraiser giving your home extra value may come down to which appraiser is selected by the mortgage company. When we sell your home we will want to request an appraiser with experience appraising homes with energy efficient upgrades.

We will also want to complete the Residential Green And Energy Efficient Addendum information for the appraiser. This is a form the appraisers can use to help justify additional value for your home.

  1. Find Recent Sales With A Solar System To Use As Comparable Properties

Appraisers are hesitant to give your home extra value because of your solar system. Appraisers are busy and may not have time to do sufficient research about your home and comparable sales. What we can do to help is to provide the appraiser with a list of recent sales of home with a solar system to justify the value of your home.

You may be surprised at how little the average home buyer knows about solar systems. The average Realtor also does not know much about systems including how they work and the value they can add to your home.
